The impact of coronavirus is being felt right across the UK and I hope that you, your family and your friends remain safe and well.

We have received a number of enquiries from concerned tenants about rent payments during this tricky time, and we have produced the below video to help with insight. The good news despite all of this, is that the government is trying to help as many people financially as possible and that includes tenants.

Key Points -
*Help available through the Universal Credit system - Local Authority Housing rates have been increased by up to 30% which will help you pay the rent if you have lost your job or been laid off work. Apply Now if this affects you -

*Employers are being supported by the government, with them paying 80% of employee wages up to the value of £2500 (gross). Speak to your employer to see if they are exploring this.
*Temporary jobs are available in the supermarkets and other key areas. It may help you out in the short term and if you are able to apply it will help with your ability to pay bills and rent.
*The government have said Landlords and tenants will be expected to work together to establish an affordable repayment plan, taking into account tenants’ individual circumstances.

IMPORTANT -
The support measures the government have brought in are unprecedented and have been done so to keep the economy going and this includes you. Try to ensure that you keep up with your payments because if you fall into arrears the money will still need to be paid back at some point as you are still contractually liable. This is the same as if the landlord took a mortgage holiday - the payments would be simply added on again at the end. Help is there for you please look for it and please use it.

If after exploring these options you are still struggling please do talk to us, we are all in this together, and if we can work out a suitable payment plan with your landlord we will, the government will expect everyone to do this.

Please, if you can pay, continue to do so.
